Happy Ground Hog's Day! Six more weeks of winter.
The animal projects look AMAZING!!! The entire Multi and 4th grade did a spectacular job!
We have been working very hard on our Discovery Education boards. I am so impressed with all the students have learned and taught me! So many of the students have shared technology tips and tricks and have been so helpful with their peers. I hope they showed you at home! Even thought they were due Friday, many were in the middle of uploading themselves reading their work that I allowed them the weekend to finish. Once they finish they need to submit it to me.
In math the 3rd graders have been working on measurement. They all did very well on their quick quiz. We are beginning time. This goes far beyond telling time, but into elapsed time. I have a few video tutorials on Schoology if they get stuck. The 4th graders are working on long division. We have learned three different methods and they have selected their preferred model to use. I cannot tell you how important it is for them to know their multiplication facts! I have been saying this all year for both grades. This is where it becomes difficult for the students if they don't know them!
All students now have their own Khan Academy account. I have put in their math MAP/NWEA data and it has created their own work to help them on the areas they need to improve on according to their scores. Students can log into their account with this web address:
www.khanacademy.org/mappers
We completed the Northeast Region in Social Studies and will begin our next region.
Our field trip to The Underground Railroad is coming up on February 20th. Please send in permission slips and $11. We can only take 5 parent chaperones. This is per the URR field trip director.
Lake Shore Open House is Wednesday, February 7th from 5:30-7:30. I hope to see all of you. Our Animal projects will be on display.
